I personally find Brentford to be interesting because they don't have a youth setup but have a philosophy of bringing in cheap young players (many from continental Europe) and developing them instead. There's also a lot more money in the Championship than in the other 2nd tier leagues, so you can realistically pick from a relatively large number of teams. In England I think the obvious candidates are 'fallen giants' like Villa or Leeds. They also all have great youth setups, though money will be a bit tighter in France in general. In France, teams such as FC Metz, Troyes, FC Lorient, AJ Auxerre, and Le Havre AC are all good options for this. They also just got promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in real life this year, so you can follow along with their real life story as well. Bundesliga so first season promotion is definitely a possibility. But they still have a pretty good starting squad for the 2. Bundesliga is also fun, and a bit more of a challenge. They essentially have Bundesliga squads and resources so getting promoted is relatively easy and staying up the next season isn't hard either.įC Union Berlin in the 2.
